Question of the day: What is fear?
Biologically, it’s the brain’s reaction to stimulus where
chemicals are released that raise the heart rate.
Grammatically, it’s an unpleasant emotion caused by the
threat of danger, pain or harm.
But I ask, what is fear to you?
Is it the fear of heights, fear of ghosts, fear of
darkness, fear of insects, fear of death, fear of falling or fear of failing?
What is it?
See, we all have some fears. There’s no person in this
world who can be called fearless. Even the audacious soldiers have certain
fears and vulnerabilities. So how do they face their fears?
Now forget about the soldiers, tell me about you. What do
you normally do when you’re about to face your worst fear? What will you do if
you’re given a task that you’re extremely scared of? You, I and in fact almost
everybody will try to dodge it somehow. You’ll try to find other alternatives.
Sometimes it may work and you may not have to face you fears. In that case,
you’ll normally be extremely delighted. You’ll feel relieved. But just ask
yourself what have you achieved by doing so. Does it make your life any easier?
Do you feel a change? It even enhances your fear. It kills your self
confidence. It makes you realize that you can never do that thing. On the other
hand if you face your fear boldly, it’ll be quite an achievement. I personally
believe, “A fear once gone is gone forever. If you’ve conquered a fear, it no
longer remains a fear. Now it becomes a challenge, an adventure. Something that
you like to do or you want to do”(One of my own quotes from my virtual diary).
For instance, many of us are scared of dangerous rides like roller coster. But
I bet most of these people will be those who’ve never gone for these rides.
They are those who just saw others screaming on that ride and mentally decided
that they’ll never be able to go for that ride. And that becomes a fear.
Strange but true, many people are scared of even those things which they
haven’t even tried yet. I mean come on pals, at least try it! And then decide
if you’re scared of it or not.
So what I say is, “Embrace you fears”. No matter how
deadly they are. If you don’t succeed once, try again. Keep trying. Never lose
hopes. Never bow before your fears. Learn to face ‘em. Embrace ‘em!
Believe me guys, if anyone who is scared of roller coster
gains some courage and give it a try, then mark my words. Mark my words that
once he has accomplished it, he’ll be so fu#ckin’ delighted that you can’t even
imagine. He’ll feel like a superhero who just thrashed his enemy. There’s also
a scientific reason behind it. I read it somewhere but forgot later.(LoL,as I
normally do.) Anyways, I’m not gonna google that just to tell you. Do it
yourself if you want to.
Yeah, so where were we? Yeah, the roller coster thing.
After coming back from the roller coster, one thing is certain. He would want
to go for it again. It means now he has conquered that fear. Now it’s no longer
a fear. It has now become a thrill, an adventure. He’ll begin to enjoy that.
So guys all I wanna say is, “Never dodge your fears”.
Face them. Embrace them. I personally believe, “The worst thing you should fear
is fear itself”(One of my own quotes from my virtual diary).
I think almost all of you, who are of my age have watched
the batman series. i.e. Batman Begins(2005), The Dark Knight(2008) and The Dark
Knight Rises(2012). If not, then please
go watch at least the first movie if you liked this blog of mine and if you want
to know how to face your fears. The first movie(Batman Begins) is all about the
salvation from fears. However, second and third movies are even better. But I’d
recommend you to watch Batman begins and The Dark Knight Rises(3rd
movie) if you want to know about the real dreads.
I still remember that one line. The scene is that Bruce
Wyane who was once damn scared of bats has finally conquered his feared and has
decided to use the symbol of a bat to haunt his enemies. i.e. He has just
discovered himself as the BATMAN. At this, his servent Alfred asks,”Why Bats
Sir?” At this, Bruce replies,”Bats frighten me. It’s time my enemies share my
dread.” Means if bats frightens him, then he wants to use the same thing to
frighten his enemies. It’s a very good movie and after watching it, you’ll
experience a change, deep inside.
You know the fact is, when someone is born, he’s born
fearless. In fact, he doesn’t even know what actually a fear is. He learns
about different types of fears with time. Most of the fears he possess being a
kid come through his parents or guardians. These fears are superficial which
parents impose in their children for the well being of their children. Like a
mother often tells her little child not to go out alone or you’ll be abducted
by monsters, witches and all. This way, she makes sure that her child will remain
safe. And these fears vanish with time as he grows. I don’t know who that is,
but a person named Marianne Williamson said,”Love is what we were born with.
Fear is what we learned here. This statement justifies what I’m trying to say.
Some fears are those which come to a person from his experinces. These are
those which have a long lasting impact on that person’s life and are hard to
conquer. For instance if a person once meets with a terrible accident which
took him some months or even years to recover from, he’ll be frightened when
he’ll be driving again after a long time. But sooner or later, if he has once
decided to overcome this fear, no one could stop him. This is what we have to
learn here and as our Dabangg Chulbul Pandey says,”Fate loves the fearless”.
That’s all I want to share right now. Thanks for your appreciation and support
guys. Love you all!!
