The sudden disappearance of the Malaysian Flight, MH370 threw the whole world into chaos. The flight carrying 239 passengers got mysteriously disappeared on 8th of March 2014 without any trace. It was as if it never existed. There were all sorts of speculations about the missing flight (like the possibility of conspiring another terrorist attack like 9:11) till the day its wreckage was finally discovered deep beneath the Indian Ocean.
1.
Why no panic message was sent during Mayday situation?
2.
Why did the plane
make a sharp left turn?
3.
Can we say that
the pilots intended to kill himself?
4.
Was there any
Hijack situation that led to a dreadful end.
5.
Why no action was
taken when the plane's transponder signal went off?
6.
Did the plane
glide into the sea or plunge after running out of fuel?
7.
Why none of the passengers used their mobile phones?
Some of these questions may remain
unanswered forever. But there is this another question that may arise in your
mind, “Was this the only incident of this kind? Or there have been such incidents
before?” Well, if you’ll turn the pages of history, you’ll find out that there
have been over 1000 similar incidents. Yeah, I’m talking about The Bermuda
Triangle. Also known as The Devil’s Triangle.
The Bermuda Triangle is a
loosely defined region in the western part of the North Atlantic Ocean, where a
number of aircraft and ships are said to have disappeared under mysterious
circumstances. No debris or wreckage of those giant bodies were ever found. It
was as if they were vanished in the air. It is a triangular region between The
Bermuda Island, Florida and Puerto Rico. The US coast guard reports that about
120 boats get vanished here every year without any trace. Now, where did all
those ships, boats and aircrafts go? There have been a lot of myths about The
Bermuda Triangle ever since it was first discovered.
Some people say that all
those objects which pass through the bermuda triangle land themselves in
another dimension. The dimension which is there but it can’t be seen through
the human eyes. Take the radio waves for instance. These waves are all around
us but we can’t see or touch it. So, maybe the other dimension also exists in
our world but we can’t see it, some even believe in stories about the sea
simply opening up and gulping ships and anything that comes near it. There also
have been myths about the existence of giant sea monsters who drag the boats
and ships deep under the ocean. Some even links the incidents with the alien
activities.
Christopher Columbus also wrote in his book that when he sailed through the area during his world voyage, he saw strange lights in the sky. He also wrote about erratic compass readings, perhaps because at that time a sliver of the Bermuda Triangle was one of the few places on Earth where true north and magnetic north lined up. After gaining widespread fame as the first person to sail solo around the globe, Joshua Slocum disappeared on a 1909 voyage from Martha’s Vineyard to South America. Though it’s unclear exactly what happened, many sources later attributed his death to the Bermuda Triangle. All these myths, believes and the strange disappearances keep the mystery about The Devil’s Triangle alive.
Now that I’m talking about The Bermuda Triangle, how can I
forget to mention the strange disappearance of The Flight 19. On 5th
December 1945, five Navy bombers carrying 14 men took off from a Fort
Lauderdale, Florida, airfield in order to conduct practice bombing runs over
some nearby shoals. But with his compasses apparently malfunctioning, the
leader of the mission, known as Flight 19, got severely lost. All five planes
flew aimlessly until they ran low on fuel and were forced to ditch at sea. That
same day, a rescue plane and its 13-man crew also disappeared. The rescue plane
that was sent to search for the aircrafts and the survivors also never came
back. After a massive weeks-long search failed to turn up any evidence, the
official Navy report declared that it was “as if they had flown to Mars.”
So, that was about The Bermuda Triangle or The Devil’s Triangle.
But now the question arises, “Is this the only region that has witnessed so
many disappearances? Or there is another such region somewhere in the globe?”
Now I guess you think I’m talking about the Indian Ocean. No, not yet. Indian
Ocean is just my assumption of being another such region. But it hasn’t been
considered as another Devil’s region yet. But it might be considered in future
after the mallaysian flight got plunged into the ocean and got missing for
weeks. Then I guess I’ll also be the one who pre-assumed this region to be
another Devil’s region. But we’ll discuss about the Indian Ocean later. First
I’m gonna tell you about another triangular region in Pacific ocean which is
just like another Bermuda Triangle and has witnessed hundreds of similar
incidents.
Well, after reading a lot about The Bermuda Triangle, I
decided to watch some documentary movies based on this devil’s region. And the
third movie that I watched thinking that its also about the mighty Bermuda
Triangle was titled, “Beyond The Bermuda Triangle: The Devil’s Sea. But as a
matter of fact, the movie was not about The Bermuda Triangle but was about
another similar triangular region that lies in Pacific and is known as, “The
Devils Sea.” This is how I came to know about the existance of the another
Devil’s triangle that has took so many lives and has swallowed hundreds of
ships and aircrafts without leaving any trace of evidence.
The Devil's Sea, also known as the Dragon's Triangle, the
Formosa Triangle and the "Pacific Bermuda Triangle", is a region of
the Pacific around Miyake Island, about 100 km south of Tokyo(as per
wikipedia).
To the south of Japan lies this vast expanse of empty
ocean. Since the 1940s, scores of gigantic ships have mysteriously vanished in
these cruel seas. Many of them were lost without even sending an SOS, leaving
no clue as to their fate. But these waters have been claiming victims for
centuries. Long ago, Japanese sailors gave this region a chilling name, Mano
Umi, The Devil's Sea. Japanese legends tell of unknown forces that overpowered
the strongest of ships, and great sea monsters that dragged sailors to their
death.
As the disappearance of flight 19 is the biggest mystery
of Bermuda Triangle, The Dragon’s triangle carries even bigger mystery. Its
about the strange disappearance of a giant ship named, “The Derbyshire.”
On September 8, 1980, carrying 150,000 tons of iron ore,
the boat carrier Derbyshire was 230 miles off the east coast of Okinawa. The
Derbyshire was a gigantic ship, longer than three football fields, twice the
size of the Titanic, only four years old. But strangley, on 9th
September, the Derbyshire and her entire crew disappeared. It was the largest
British ship ever lost at sea, and no one could explain why. How could this
giant ship, crewed by experienced mariners, simply vanish, without a distress
call, and without leaving any trace? Could she be another victim of one of the
Pacific Ocean's most enduring and frightening enigmas?
Today, the legend of sea monsters may have faded, but
Japanese fishermen still fear The Devil's Sea, even as its rich bounty draws
them to risk their lives. The Devil's Sea is also an abundant sea. Fish always cluster
here. These seas are very different from other places. Waves change quickly and
unpredictably. So if you're relaxed on a boat in these places, you will get
into trouble.
Now, the question arises, “Are the two triangles
inter-related?” The dragon’s triangle lies exactly opposite the Bermuda
Triangle. The Dragon's Triangle is noted for similar paranormal disturbances.
Also like the Bermuda Triangle, the Dragon's Triangle doesn't appear on any
official global maps. Neither the Dragon's Triangle nor the Bermuda Triangle is
located on the agonic line, where the magnetic north equals the geographic
north. The position of the agonic line varies with time and at present the
North American section of the line is drifting westward4. Moreover, because neither location is plotted on
any official world map, the sizes and the perimeters of both the Dragon's
Triangle and the Bermuda Triangle vary from author to author. So, it won’t be
irrelevant to say that the two triangles are inter-related.
And now the recent incident that happened with MH370
provoke us to think, think if there’s any relation of the two triangles with
the Indian Ocean also? Though a large part of the wreckage has been recovered.
So we can’t say it simply vanished just like Flight 19 and Derbyshire. But
still we don’t know how the plane plunged into the ocean? Why no SOS messages
were sent during the hours of adversity? What went wrong with it? A few days
earlier, we didn’t even know where the plane was? In short, what happened with
MH370 resembles with all those incidents that have happened in The Bermuda
Triangle and The Dragon’s Triangle.
Just like Atlantic and the Pacific ocean, Indian Ocean
has also swallowed thousands of ships and boats so far. Though it maybe the
first incident that happened with a plane. For instance, we can take the most
recent ship sinking incident that took place last year in the Indian Ocean.
"Along with 7000 containers, ship MOL Comfort broke
in half in high seas in the Indian Ocean. The aft section floated for a week,
then sank on June 27th. The forward section was towed most of the way to port,
but burned and sank on July 10th. This post-panamax ship was 316 meters long
and only 5 years old. With a typical value of $40,000 per container, this
amounts to a quarter billion dollar loss. The cause is unknown, but may be
structural or perhaps due to overfilled containers that are declared as
underweight. Of course, the software used to calculate ship stability relies
upon these incorrect physical parameters."
Now seeing all
these facts, I think it won’t be irrelevant to say that theres a deep relationship
between the three oceans and I can say that unflinchingly that there can be
another triangle similar to the two triangles mention above.
Well, I don’t
say that I can’t be wrong. I’m not a scientist after all. I’m just a sharp
observer. I do research only on the basis of facts that are available to us
all. I don’t study the facts scientifically. So, all I can say is that there is
this probability. And after the recent plane-sinking incident, I think it will
grab the attention of all the scientists and a new devil’s triangle may be
discovered in the Indian Ocean soon.
