Second chance. Who doesn't want a second chance in life? But not everyone gets it.
Nobody in this world is perfect. We all make mistakes and we all face
the consequences. But sometimes a single action can influence your
whole life. It takes a lifetime to build up an image. But a moment's
mistake can decimate it in seconds. And that's when we all look for a
second chance. A chance to recuperate your mess, a chance to start over.
But you can't get everything in life. And you may have to wait all your
life to get that one second chance. But if you have strength to
withstand the odds then sooner or later, you will get that second
chance in your life.
Let me tell you a story. Once upon a time in a city, there was a guy
named Jason. He had a decent job, his own apartment, a car and a beautiful,
loving wife. He loved his wife more than anything else and she loved him the same way.
The two were living happily together. But bad days always come without
any notice. And this happened with Jason as well. His father died. He
lost his job and unwillingly, he had to take up a job for which he was
overqualified. A job at half the salary that he used to get. Needless to say, he was very frustrated. He often had to do overtime and
impulsive behavior of his boss only made it worse.
When he got back home, his wife would whine about their bad situation. This kept
going for a week or so and one day it turned into a terrible fight.
Jason lost his temper and pushed his wife off the roof. She died. And
this was the worst thing that could happen to him. His wife was the one
he was living for, the one he truly loved and cared for. But he killed
her. He couldn't think of doing anything like that even in his dreams.
But a moment's mistake brought his life to an utter havoc. He was
incarcerated to spend 22 years in prison. During the first 14 years, not a
single day passed when he didn't regret what he did. He always wanted to
go back in time and stop himself but that never happens. During his
final days in prison, he accepted the reality. He accepted that
although he was out of his mind but he did kill his wife and he had to
pay for it. Also, he knew his wife loved him and seeing him die everyday
in ruefulness would only make her sad. So he stopped thinking about his
past and started a new life behind the bars. He started writing about
his experiences in jail. This made his life bearable and gave him a new
hope. After 4 years, his parole got accepted and he was released after
spending 18 years of his life behind the bars.
After that, he started a new life. He wrote a book on his experiences in
jail which became an international best-seller. And he attained the
respect that he had never experienced before.
So this was about how Jason got his second chance to start a
new life.
So all I'm trying to say is, no matter how sinful you once
have been, it's never too late to change yourself and your whole life
too.
But before all that, you must have the strength to accept the reality and accept the sins that you've committed. You must accept that the past has gone and a new dawn awaits. You must be able to forgive yourself for your sins. Then only you can expect mercy from God and then only you can start a new life with a new spirit.
This is what Jesus has said in Bible:
"Two men went to the temple to pray. One a Pharisee and the other one, a
tax collector. The pharisee prayed, "God, I thank you that I'm not like
other men. Thieves, adulterers or this tax collector."
But the tax collector didn't even look up to Heaven. He said, "God, have mercy on me. I'm a sinner."
God blessed the tax-collector. Not the Pherisee.
Anyone who praises himself will be humbled. And anyone who humbles himself will be praised."
